SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

 

Open to college bound high school seniors attending H-F High School

  1. *Essay requirement: for those scholarships that require an essay (Unless otherwise noted)

  2. “Give a brief personal history, your reasons for wanting to study your intended major and how it relates to your envisioned career choice”.  (You may include a recent experience during your high school career that has impacted your life, represents a challenge or a hardship you might have encountered.)” The essay should be a minimum of 250 words, 12-point font, double-spaced.

* The HFPA Scholarship has four separate essay topics to choose from:
Submit an essay chosen from one of the following topics:
a. Discuss the importance of diversity on a college campus.
b. Discuss/explain your choice of an intended college major and career aspirations.
c. Discuss/explain characteristics of a leader and the characteristics you possess.
d. Discuss a personal experience that strengthened, changed or enriched your life.
The essay should be a minimum of 250 words, 12-point font, double-spaced.

2. Letter(s) of recommendation: for those scholarships requiring a letter of recommendation (optional second letter unless otherwise noted). An adult who knows you and your capabilities should write the letter(s) of recommendation. Preferably the letter(s) should be from a classroom teacher, coach or sponsor you have had at H-F. A second may be from another classroom teacher, a coach, club sponsor, administrator or person outside the H-F community such as a community service coordinator that you have worked with. Family members are excluded.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria: Unless otherwise noted candidates will be selected on a variety of factors including financial need (if requested by the sponsor, organization or donor), academic promise, personal essays and letter(s) of recommendation.
