CALENDAR FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

Award winners will be notified at least one week prior to the ceremonies.

Scholarships will be awarded at the Honors Convocation or the Senior Athletic Awards Ceremony.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Open to college bound high school seniors attending H-F High School.

 

All applications will be accessible and completed through Naviance. There will be no paper or hard copies available in the Guidance Office. After logging into Naviance, scholarships can be found under the "HFHS Foundation Scholarship Program" link, which is located in the "About Me" tab.

Step 3 - Click on the “HFHS Foundation Scholarship Program”

Step 4 – Deadline: Submit online application by April 12, 2021

 

Any questions regarding the scholarships or login information for Naviance should be directed to the guidance office.

 

 

ESSAY REQUIREMENTS

(For those scholarships that require an essay.)

 

  • Give a brief personal history, your reasons for wanting to study your intended major and how it relates to your envisioned career choice. (You may include a recent experience during your high school career that has impacted your life, represents a challenge or a hardship you might have encountered.)

  • The essay should be a minimum of 250 words, 12-point font, double-spaced.

  • The HFPA Scholarship has four separate essay topics to choose from.

  • The Homewood Rotary Club Scholarship has a separate essay topic.

 

LETTER(S) 0F RECOMMENDATION

(For Scholarships that require a letter of recommendation)

 

Up to two letters of recommendation written by adults who know you and your capabilities. The letter(s) should be from a teacher you have had at H-F or from another classroom teacher, a coach, club sponsor, administrator or person outside the H-F community such as a community service coordinator or coach that you have worked with. Family members are excluded.

 

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Candidates will be selected on a variety of factors including but not limited to financial need (if requested by the sponsoring organization/donor), academic promise, personal essays and letters of recommendation.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR RECEIVING A SCHOLARSHIP CHECK

The sponsor’s requirement for issuance of a scholarship check is proof of enrollment in your chosen college or university. This may take various forms, including but not limited to, a copy of your first semester class schedule, your housing deposit receipt or a copy of your registration confirmation. (Only one is necessary.) Please make sure that your documentation source is the college or university you will be attending and that your name is included in the text. Further details will be provided in a congratulatory letter given at the Honors Convocation.
